ZIE, Zuid-Hollands Industrie Event 2026

"BigScience.NL visited ZIE, Zuid-Hollands Industrie Event, hosted by Mikrocentrum at the Van Nellefabriek in Rotterdam on March 26th. At this yearly event, high tech and manufacturing companies, suppliers, knowledge institutes and government from the South Holland region get together. We discussed Big Science and developments in hydrogen technology, space, robotics, resilience, mechatronics and optics, AI and data and semicon. Of course, we had plenty of time to connect with the ecosystem and to invite interested parties to BSBF26. ZIE you next year, Rotterdam!"


Industriemiddag

The BigScience.NL industry afternoon at the Mikrocentrum was well attended by over 40 people. The industrial liaison officers of the various Big Science organisations to which we are connected, presented the opportunities at those organisation. Two companies shared their experience in working with these large organisations for those unfamiliar with the domain to learn from. Three companies seeking to enter the big science arena pitched their competences to the ILOs and fellow companies such that more people are aware of their competences potentially leading to new opportunities. Many new contacts were made during the networking moments the seeds for new partnerships. The BSBF2026 was promoted and the programme and opportunity to present companies' competences was well received.


Deep Tech Day UvA 28 january

The UvA faculty of Science organised their first Deep Tech Day at Amsterdam Science Park. During this event, the focus was on the road from deep technological science to societal impact. The programme featured plenary sessions with keynotes and panel discussions by, among others, Tjerk Opmeer (Director of Innovation Policy, Ministry of Economic Affairs), Constantijn van Oranje (Special Envoy at TechLeap), Dr. Emilia Olsson (Faculty of Science, University of Amsterdam, and ARCNL), and Renée Frissen (AI Plan). There were several parallel sessions for example focussing on Knowledge & Technology Transfer or the Faculty of Science Startups.


7th German Fusion Forum

On a snowy Monday, people, primarily Germans, interested in the opportunities and challenges facing nuclear fusion came together in Garching, a small university town near Munich with a surprisingly bad public transport connection to Munich airport. The 190 participants would spend two days together to witness an extensive number of presentations covering the need for a new regulatory framework for fusion to the ambitious roadmaps of German fusion startups.


Third INPROCAP-seminar on “Market Analysis in the Context of Innovation Procurement”

On 9 December 2025, the INPROCAP project organised its third expert seminar of the training journey: Building Capacity Across Big Science. The seminar focussed on “Market Analysis in the Context of Innovation Procurement.” The hybrid event, hosted at European XFEL and online, brought together procurement professionals, Industrial Liaison Officers, and innovation stakeholders from across Europe to discuss how market analysis can support more effective innovation procurement in the Big Science context.


Annual Symposium on Superconductivity at Twente University

The Annual Symposium on Superconductivity & Cryogenics that took place on Thursday 27 November 2025 went very well with 80 attendees. There was a broad range of presentations both from industry and academia.


Precision Fair 2025

The Precision Fair, a yearly event organised by Mikrocentrum, attracts many (inter)national visitors from a broad range of high-precision industries. It is an excellent opportunity for the BigScience.nl Industry Liaison Officers to showcase current developments in their fields, connect with companies and organisations with whom they have longstanding relationships, and build new ones.


RTI summit Copenhagen

This event was organised related to the Danish presidency of the European Commission and focused on the role of Research Technology Infrastructures – like TNO, DTI, VTT, etc. – in the Big Science domain.  


Aimday in Lund

Big Science Sweden and Big Science Denmark teamed up for this event in Lund. The event brought over 100 people together to discuss various challenges posed by representatives from Big Science organisations for which they are looking for partners from in particular the industry.
